Mumbai... O Mumbai

2 days of continuous frenzy and uncertainty comes to an end now….. Finally violence has receded.

In its wake it has Destroyed Livelihood of hundreds and shattered hopes of thousands.
A Kalyan Resident’s and two brothers were lynched ( story Here) he some how saved himself and recuperating in hospital.
One of the lynched brother was a Doctor who used to treat the same very people who lynched him. His used to charge Rs 10 as his fee. His mistake …… He was not born to maharstrian parents.

I was watching an old movie Gardish – by Priyadarshan ( one of those movies of which Mr Priyan is still reaping the harvest.)

Characters are done to death

A father- working in the lower echelon of law enforcement
A son- Father wants him to become , what he himself couldn’t, A Police Inspector (Bansi u won the bet… Its not an IPS).
A Local DON- who doesn’t allow any one to stand in front of him and has total control over the Town.
Some cronies- who survive on others power

Plot line is simple and there is obviously no originality to it. However It’s the acting of the central characters, which is inspiring

Story goes like this – A hawaldar is transferred to Mumbai as a punishment posting to the most notorious police station in town. Kala Chowki.
He being the righteous person he is, gets involved in a brawl with local Hafta collecting sidekick of the Don, Billa Jilani. Billa beats him badly and while he was exercising his muscles over Hawaldar, hawaldar’s son happens to pass the area and saw this, He looses his temper and get involved in the fight and Thrashed the don mercilessly and sents him to hospital half dead.

Suddenly the son becomes the new perceived Don of the area and people start revering him. His legacy becomes the stuff of the folklore and people start using his name to wield power.

Later on Don again comes back from half dead and tries to get his Empire back, Son again thrashes him and the don dies, so does sons aspiration to become a Police officer.

Coming back to chaos prevailed in Mumbai / Kala chowki…. Ooops….. But aren’t we seeing similarities here…..
Same anarchy …. But no Son / Law to correct that……
